REEEP

Who we work with

As a leading international sustainable energy partnership catalyzing change across the developing world, REEEP is working with a wide variety of stakeholders to ensure coordination and engagement among policymakers, regulators, financiers and NGOs.

Inclusive and comprehensive approach

Partners of REEEP

Partners are organisations who have signed the REEEP Mission Statement and who agree to provide the partnership with knowledge and tools to facilitate change. These include national governments, international organisations and development banks, right down to local NGOs trying to make a real difference on the ground. We have Partners in more than 40 countries, all working together to direct their activities in a manner that enhances our overall knowledge and replicates success.

The 46 governments who are Partners of REEEP are working with us to promote local, regional, and international market conditions for the accelerated deployment of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies. Some Partner Governments provide REEEP with funding and all are committed to ensuring that policies and regulations are introduced to reduce the risk of investing into clean energy in their respective country.

All Partners must be formally approved by REEEP’s Governing Board in order to ensure that their Organisation is committed and proactive in reducing barriers to the deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.

Friends of REEEP

The 3000 Friends of REEEP are individuals with an interest in renewable energy and energy efficiency. They include key contact individuals in each Partner organisation. Friends enjoy access to REEEP’s community area and have the ability to build a profile describing personal expertise and interests to other members of the green energy community.

Experts

Some Friends of REEEP are also designated experts in a particular area of interest, and agree to act as consultants and may be contracted to perform specific assignments in support of REEEP’s activities.  These experts are selected in an annual Call for Experts application process.

MoU organisations

Existing energy partnerships are also working to remove barriers to sustainable energy systems.  Rather than promote overlapping initiatives, REEEP has signed Memorandums of Understanding with leading partnerships to ensure that our activities are coordinated in a particular market or industry sector. This ensures there is no duplication of effort, and enables REEEP to maximise its resources and focus on areas which will make the biggest difference to the market as a whole.

International processes

Through the United Nations, REEEP is active within the Commission for Sustainable Development (CSD) process.

REEEP has observer status at all key UNFCCC events including the annual COP meetings, and is a guest of the APEC Energy Working Group.

REEEP has been recognised as a delivery mechanism by the G8, at the Gleneagles, St. Petersburg and Heiligendamm summits. The organisation is specifically mandated by the G8 to support energy efficiency in buildings.
