Energy Efficiency Policies in ASEAN Region - New Delhi

The IPEEC-WEACT South Asia regional workshop will be hosted by Ministry of Power/Bureau of Energy Efficiency of India. The event is scheduled to follow the National Energy Conservation Day on December 14, 2011. This event is being conducted under the auspices of IPEEC, and, organized by the IPEEC Secretariat, the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and the International Energy Agency.

The event will consist of two parts:

  • A one-day policy dialogue will feature presentations and panel discussions on energy efficiency in South Asia. The dialogue will bring together high-level officials from South Asia and elsewhere to discuss how energy efficiency can contribute to energy security, sustainable development, and economic competitiveness in the region.
  • A two-day capacity building workshop is designed specifically for energy efficiency experts from South Asia. The workshop is aimed at strengthening the national and regional capacity to formulate, design, and implement energy efficiency policies and programs suited to regional conditions and country contexts.

The workshop will focus on topics of particular interest to South Asia, including:

  1. Financing of energy efficiency measures;
  2. Regional priorities and approaches to appliance standards and labelling;
  3. Prospects for goals, targets and obligations on large energy users;
  4. Institutional strengthening and capacity building for energy efficiency.
