Renewable Energy Exchange 2008
From 08.04.2008 to 09.04.2008
REEEP Endorsed
Organised by Synergy
Description:
Renewable energy is a very important pillar under the EU energy policy. Markets for wind energy, solar energy, biomass, etc are growing with more than 40% per year and in Europe each member state has support systems in place to boost these markets.
Cross border trade is coming up driven by the voluntary markets and by disclosure for renewable electricity. In 2007 120 TWh, about one quarter of total European production, will be certified under the European Energy Certificate System (EECS) as set out by the Association of Issuing bodies (AIB). Half of this certified volume is traded cross border and is growing with 20% per year.
The European Commission has announced to come with new regulations facilitating international trade with in the European Union. Member states will be allowed to reach their national targets by importing renewable energy, meaning that exporting countries need to subtract these volumes from their target. This will lead to new developments on the whole sale market for renewable energy and thus the certificate market. Consequences for the supply side (investors in renewable energy) and the demand side (buyers of renewable electricity) will be discussed.
This conference will offer you a neutral platform where international experts, policy makers, interest groups, users and traders meet on the common ground of policy and market.
