Description:
REEEP was extremely active at the Washington International Renewable Energy Conference (WIREC 2008). The South African Minister of Minerals and Energy, Ms. Buyelwa Sonjica presented the consolidated findings of the regional preparatory meetings. The Renewable Energy Regional Policy Analysis Report is attached (see document at bottom) Dr. Marianne Osterkorn, REEEP's International Director gave a ministerial speech on the value of partnerships in accelerating renewable energy and Larissa Dobriansky, Deputy Assistant Secretary, US Department of Energy mentioned REEEP in her speech. We also held a side event on accelerating deployment of renewable energy technologies. REEEP had two booths. One for the Reegle information gateway and one for REEEP's activities in policy & finance in the developing world. Our annual meeting of partners was also conducted at the WIREC event.
