Regional Secretariat Central and Eastern Europe
The REEEP Regional Secretariat for Central and Eastern Europe and Turkey is an alliance of progressive governments, businesses and organisations which are committed to accelerating the development of renewable and energy efficiency systems in the region.
The countries of the CEE & Turkey Regions have been challenged by the difficulty of diversifying their energy supply for energy security, enhancing energy efficiency and increasing renewable energy in their fuel share in order to comply with Kyoto Protocol, meanwhile achieving certain economic and social benefits.
In CEE and Turkey, the energy efficiency potential is very high and immediate results can be achieved cost effectively and time efficiently. Also the renewable energy share in the energy mix can be increased substantially in each country of the region. REEEP RS aims to contribute improving the market conditions, developing enhanced policies in the field of EE and RE. The Secretariat achieves these goals by performing activities in order to provide cooperation, networking and dissemination of best practices between different stakeholders such as local governments, regulators, policy makers and experts. These activities involve organizing workshops, meetings and trainings, as well as capacity building projects and awareness raising campaigns in the countries of the region.
