REEEP

Regional Secretariat Russia and the Former Soviet Union

The countries of Former Soviet Union (FSU) region hold tremendous
potential of renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE), which may provide clean and affordable energy supply via sustainable and financially viable projects. However harnessing of RE and EE potentials is hampered by a number of informational, policy and financial barriers.

The RS for Russia and FSU was established in the Russian Regional Environmental Centre to mitigate the barriers for development of RE and EE and assist in promotion and introduction of advanced ideas, policies, standards and best practices for clean energy projects via multi-stakeholders dialogue.

The principal activities of the RS in FSU region include:

  • Facilitation of the debate and engagement of key stakeholders through workshops and fora;
  • Acting as a clearing house of information on different policy and financial issues for development of RE and EE;
  • Support of regional partners and networking among the key groups of regional stakeholders (including NGOs, business and governments).
