REEEP

REEEP Activities

REEEP is active globally, but has a specific interest in countries in the developing world and economies in transition. REEEP believes this is where its activities, projects and networks can have the biggest impact in ensuring that developing country energy systems are sustainable and do not follow the high-carbon emission route of the developed world.

REEEP Activities

REEEP conducts tenders for project proposals that meet the needs of our partners and our donors.  Since its inception, REEEP has provided funding to more than 100 projects in over 40 countries.  Projects are producing new policies, draft legislation and regulations, business models, toolkits and training programmes.

REEEP has also established several sub-networks, most notably the Energy Efficiency Coalition, the Renewable Energy and International Law Project (REIL), and the Sustainable Energy Regulation Network (SERN) that are focused on driving change via a particular channel.  The three sub-networks are providing analysis and insights into policies and regulations and their impact on the marketplace for renewable energy and energy efficiency. The sub-networks operate as independent bodies outside of, but connected to, the REEEP network.

When a gap or marketplace barrier is identified in a country's renewable energy or energy effiency market, REEEP looks to use its network, activities and projects to bridge and fill that market need. Our core activities are centrally managed initiatives by the International Secretariat which acts as a bridge between market need and market delivery. The reegle information gateway and our city twinning projects are two such examples of REEEP, in coalition with its partners, helping to close the gap between need and knowledge.
