Vision WAYSFOP’s vision is to work assiduously towards poverty alleviation as women, children and the youth are empowered to develop their potentials in the creation of health, wealth and opportunities for the vulnerable in the Nkwanta Districts of the Volta Region of Ghana. Corporate Mission WAYSFOP designs and provides interventions that promote the health and well-being of women, children and the youth and assist in poverty reduction strategies and interventions at the community levels as well as research, evaluate, formulate and advance health and education programmes and systems. WAYSFOP focuses its activities on the community and household levels as the main producers of health, well-being and wealth. WAYSFOP serves as a local resource for communities and other organizations seeking guidance and interventions about issues of health, health services delivery, education, community mobilization, poverty reduction, women and youth empowerment, and the implementation of issues mostly related to women, youth and children. WAYSFOP seeks to develop innovative strategies, programmes and interventions that encourage youth and women’s participation to sustain positive growth, development, health and well-being of women, the youth and children. Aims and Objectives The aims and objectives of WAYSFOP are stated below: • Create the opportunities for the people to identify the causes and the dangers of HIV/AIDS/STIs. • Accept people living with HIV/AIDS without stigma. • Provide counselling opportunities for HIV/AIDS patients, and support for People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAS). • To provide opportunities for the youth and women particularly the girl-child for skill training and education, undertakes projects and support needy students in both basic and second cycle institutions. • Promote and provide opportunities for the identification of skills, training and job creation for women and the youth including agricultural activities and micro-credits. • To provide justice education to the youth and protect women and children against violence and abuse. These activities it is hoped will contribute toward the goals of the Ghana Poverty Reduction Strategy, the New Education Reforms and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. Key targets of WAYSFOP activities and programmes include: • The formation and training Clubs of HIV/AIDS peer educators in the various communities and zones in the Nkwanta Districts, promote community engagement in environmental cleanliness, primary health education especially on prevention of diseases e.g. Malaria and Tuberculosis. • Promote Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT). • Provide counselling services to at least 95% of people diagnosed as HIV Positive and living with AIDS (PLWHA). • Support PLWHA to seek anti-retroviral drugs to sustain them to live normal lives. • Support needy students in local communities in basic and second cycle institutions. • Provide opportunity for youth in the acquisition of skills of choice. • Create opportunity for women to start and /or diversify their income generating activity through micro-credit delivery. • Promote educational drive and retention with emphasis on girl-child education in the Districts. • Undertake education projects like buildings, water, sports equipment, etc. • Promote job creation and poverty reduction through agricultural activities. • Provide justice education, human rights and advocacy for the youth and women. |
