GWEC is a trade association working to create a better political environment for wind energy. We work on legislative, regulatory affairs, financial systems and public relations in more than 40 countires. The members of GWEC represent Over 1,500 companies, organisations and institutions in more than 70 countries. All the worlds major wind turbine manufacturers 99% of the worlds more than 120 GW of installed capacity. GWEC brings together the major national, regional and continental associations representing the wind power sector, and the leading international wind energy companies and institutions. With a combined membership of over 1,500 organisations involved in hardware manufacture, project development, power generation, finance and consultancy, as well as researchers, academics and associations, GWECs member associations represent the entire wind energy community. |
| Focus and activities: |
Representing the wind industry to intergovernmental fora such as the UNFCCC, IPCC, IEA and World Bank; focussing on developing wind power outside the the main existing markets, with a current specific focus on Latin America; and putting on a Global Wind Power conference and exhibition every other year. |
