LOG`EL Project
| Name: | LOG`EL Project |
| Official Abbreviation: | LOG`EL Project |
| Description: |
LOG`EL Project is a Research and Development initiative that focuses in the areas of electronics and ICT engineering. Currently, the organization is focused on producing and marketing a host of engery products among others, namely, solar charging systems, inverters, phone-charging systems which are either battery-powered or solar-powered - mainly to serve rural or underseved, urban communities which hardly access and utilize hydro electric power. In Uganda, only 10% of the urban population accesses electricity while 5% have such an access in the rural areas. AS a result, our interest and thus promotion of renewable energy facilities is of paramount importance to us. We hope that if our application to partner with REEEP meets with success, we shall happily interact, share and learn a great deal about more effective ways renewing and ensuring more efficiency for alternative energy systems. |
| Focus and activities: |
We are a producer of technology products and services through Research and Development processes. Via this innovative status, we are registered an a non-governmental organization with the Ministry of Internal Affairs - government of the Republic of Uganda. Some of our partners and affiliates include, Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST), Uganda National Academy of Sciences (UNAS), Network of Researchers and Research Users (NURRU), Private sector Development foundation-Uganda (PSDFU), Kyambogo University (one of Uganda's leading institution in hands-on technology institution) and, Developing of Energy Enterprises Project (DEEP) which is part of the Global Village Energy Partnership (GVEP). Apart from producing and marketing the above energy products and other technology services such as web development and management tasks, we also participate in the various exhibitions and contests at the community, national and international levels while we undertake to identify young innovators and entrepreneurs whom we take on for practical training and then thereafter, roll them out into salary employment or in most cases, self-employment; currently, we are involved in conducting training in hands-entrepreneurship skills for university students at one university (in Western Uganda) and we hope to spread this skills development opportunity to other institutions of higher learning and vocational training, in other parts of Uganda. On 14th November this year (2009) LOG`EL Project was selected by the Uganda National Chamber of commerce and Industry (UNCCI) as one of the best 20 Young Archivers Projects and it become No. 2 of the best 6 in the sector of Construction. We believe that the future holds brighter moments and greater prospects for LOG`EL Project, but of course, with support from well meaning possible partners and stakeholders like REEEP. |
