Barua , First Zayed Future Energy Prize Winner , Founder & Chairman Bright Green Energy Foundation, Founding Managing Director , Grameen Shakti , Co-founder & Former Deputy Managing Director, Grameen Bank Inspired by the above , we focus on the following : •Pilot testing new business models and renewable energy technologies to disseminate these on a mass scale in Bangladesh and other developing countries; •Diversifying solar technology into other areas such as urban , irrigation, street lighting , telecommunication , energy for schools and powering health facilities etc; •Promoting Green technologies and concepts such as Improved Cooking Stoves , Biogas plants , rain water harvesting etc ; •Moving away from the No Ownership Model to promote sustainable business models in Bangladesh and else where by helping to set up small to medium sized renewable businesses coupled with local Green Energy Entrepreneurs; •Training and helping 100,000 rural grassroots women to set up their own renewable energy businesses by 2015; •Providing training and other support to small businesses such as links to financial institutions at low interest rate , access to solar panels and other accessories at cost effective prices; •Facilitating the set up of solar panel factories as well as larger number of battery and other accessories manufacturing businesses in Bangladesh to reduce price , increase efficiency and make these products of export quality to spread the solar revolution all over the world; •Helping to mitigate the impact of Climate Change through tree plantations , promotion of organic fertilizers and food security , setting up cyclone shelters and equipping existing shelters with Solars including solar powered water desalination systems, early warning system etc ; •Creating Eco - villages to showcase the impact of climate mitigation and adaptation measures etc; •Facilitating renewables in schools , health centers , telecommunication including connectivity etc , •Advocating for policy changes favourable to renewables in Bangladesh and also in other countries. |

Inspired by the vision of Mr. Dipal Barua , First Zayed Future Energy Prize Winner, Solar Poineer in Bangladesh , Founding Managing Director , Grameen Shakti , we want to see Bangladesh as one of the First Solar Nations in the World – A Source of Hope and Change to take Green Energy to 1.6 billion energy starved people around the world. We envisage a future where every house-hold and business in Bangladesh would have access to environment friendly and pollution friendly energy at affordable cost . By 2015 , we want to empower 75 million Bangladeshis with renewable energy technologies. We want to show what Bangladesh -one of most vulnerable countries to Climate Threat -can achieve through renewable energy technologies . We want to pilot test innovative business models and technologies in Bangladesh and spread our successes all over the world. |
