China National Engineering Research Center for Human Settlements (CNERCHS), approved by the Ministry of Science & Technology and Ministry of Construction, was established as a technology development body serving the whole housing industry all over the country with China Architecture Design & Research Group being its backing and other institutions as partner. Consisting of Department of R & D, Department of Public Affairs, Institute for Residential Building Design & Research, Institute for Solar Building Technology and Housing Laboratory of advanced international standard established and accredited since 90s, CNERCHS is also responsible for the operation and management of both Special Committee for Human Settlements of Chinese Society for Sustainable Development(CSSD) and Special Committee of Solar Buildings of Chinese Renewable Energy Society(CRES). This makes CNERCHS remarkably take a dominant position in qualified persons, technology, information, equipment, and be possible to provide the strong technical support for the housing development and improvement of China. |
| Focus and activities: |
Being a main unit responsible for significant scientific and technical research on residential building in the State, CNERCHS has a strong technical force and rich research experience. It has committed a number of national projects of key scientific and technical researches on housing construction in the country, major international cooperation projects of the Ministry of housijng and Urban-Rural development of P.R.China, and the tasks of research and compilation of important residential building standards and codes. |
