MEP Ţicău kicks off DECC/REEEP event at EUSEW

MEP Silvia Adriana Ţicău, Rapporteur for the revision of the Buildings Directive gave the keynote introduction to the DECC/REEEP conference on "Accelerating investment in energy efficiency with a focus on the buildings sector." In it she outlined her vision for a significantly broadened EPBD, and then took questions from participants.
ESCOs, their potential and the challenges in longer-term contracting with local authorities were running themes through the afternoon. Presentations from Peter Hobson of the EBRD, Randall Bowie from Rockwool A/S, Scott Petersen, Marketing Director - Energy Solutions EMEAI at Honeywell, and Constant Van Aerschot of Lafarge each offered concrete thinking on how investment in energy efficiency can be promoted in policy and in the market.
