Clean Energy Business Plan Competition and Financing Forum for Africa
Johannesburg, 17.02.2010 - James Smith
CTI PFAN has just launched the Africa Forum for Clean Energy Financing (AFRICEF), of which REEEP is a sponsor, including a Clean Energy Business Plan Competition for clean energy projects from the African region, specifically from (but not limited to) Mozambique and Uganda.
AFRICEF seeks to showcase selected projects with a view to attracting and mobilising clean energy investment into these projects and areas. It will nurture individuals, project teams and consortia, start-up and existing companies with environmentally beneficial business proposals with the aim of making them happen.
The deadline for applications for the Competition is 9th of April 2010. Click here for further details.
Applicants that qualify for the 2nd stage of the Forum will receive coaching from experts in the field to create a financially, socially and environmentally viable business plan. Armed with this concrete business plan, they will then be ready to attend the investors forum that will be the culmination of the competition. The investors’ forum will be held in July, in Johannesburg, South Africa.
At the Forum, potential investors will be invited to provide applicants with an opportunity to present their plans and help source the financing they need. In addition, a panel of judges, made up of investors, industry specialists and business executives who have a keen interest in enabling cleaner and greener projects will select the best projects for award of the CTI Africa Clean Energy Financing Awards.
AFRICEF is promoted by the Climate Technology Initiative (CTI) and its Private Financing Advisory Network (CTI PFAN), the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP), United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the International Centre for Environmental Technology Transfer (ICETT).
