reegle - the information gateway for renewable energy and energy efficiency
Several international studies identified access to information as a major barrier to the uptake of renewable energy and energy efficiency in the developing world and economies in transition.
In 2006 REEEP, together with REN21, responded by developing the www.reegle.info Information Gateway for renewable energy and energy efficiency. The search engine tool scans pre-selected databases known for their quality and thoroughness. Reegle also contains an “Actors Cataloge” of organisations active in the sustainable energy and energy efficiency sectors.
Twinning Cities
Cities and municipalities have a major role in facilitating change. At a local level, cities are becoming more autonomous and therefore City Mayors have an important role to play in becoming leaders of sustainable energy systems at the local level. REEEP, in listening to its local partners, determined that cities in the Southern Hemisphere were requesting assistance and models for replication from OECD countries. For this reason, REEEP has established the City Twinning programme as a mechanism to exchange experiences between cities.
