South African IMC invites REEEP input
Johannesburg, 08.04.2010 - REEEP International Secretariat
During a recent meeting with the Department of Clean Energy at the South African Ministry of Energy, REEEP was asked to provide input to three different working groups of the Inter-Ministerial committee (IMC) on Energy. This committee has set up a variety of work streams addressing different aspects of the energy challenge.
The IMC has just kicked off its stakeholder consultation process for one of these groups, related to the second Integrated Resource Plan or IRP2, which aims to provide a road map on power investment and the energy mix in South Africa for the next 20 years. The first IRP, which published in late 2009, covered the period of 2010-2013 only, but this follow-up document will provide a much longer-term context for energy development. In addition to supporting the IRP2 group, REEEP will also provide input to the Renewable Energy working group as well as the group tackling Energy Efficiency.
