REEEP draws closer to African regulators

Vienna, 16.04.2010 - REEEP International Secretariat

The African Forum for Utility Regulators (AFUR) is developing a memorandum of understanding with REEEP which will commit the two organisations to close collaboration in generating ideas to address problems in key energy areas. In the document, REEEP will agree to support AFUR by providing specific information on renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE) policies and programmes, particularly those that have worked elsewhere in a similar context. REEEP will also assist AFUR in the development of guidelines for RE and EE incentive systems, with emphasis on areas of particular interest to African regulators such as feed-in tariffs. The intiative results from a meeting between Marianne Osterkorn and Prof. Joseph Assi Benie, Director General of AFUR in Pretoria in March.
