REEEP is seeking an experienced and committed individual to serve as Director General. The expected start date of this position is November 2011. The position will be based in Vienna, Austria (Vienna International Center) though significant international travel will be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shape and implement the strategic vision of the organization, and foster the global network of the partnership with the Vienna office as the central hub linking regional nodes.
  • Identify and mobilize financial resources and other resources in support of REEEP programmes, networks and initiatives, and manage these resources according to international standards.
  • Represent the REEEP towards donors, partners, interest groups, all governance boards and at key conferences and meetings.
  • Increase awareness and communication on the economic and financial benefits of renewable energy and energy efficiency and raise the profile of REEEP in international fora.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for collaboration with other energy initiatives and partnerships, to ensure synergies are maximized and duplication avoided.
  • Ensure solid operation and monitoring of REEEP governance structure including conducting Governing Board meetings and meetings of REEEP Partners.
  • Line management responsibilities for the International Secretariat and management of an international team of associated consultants including Regional Secretariats.

Requirements

  • Education: University Degree in a relevant subject.
  • Functional Experience: A minimum of 10 years work experience in an international setting, dealing with issues related to renewable energy and energy efficiency.
  • Experience in dealing with high levels of governments, private sector and international organizations including financial institutions.
  • Languages: fluency in English.  Proficiency in German, French and/or Spanish desirable.
  • Managerial competencies: strategic thinking; political astuteness and sensitivity; strategic analysis and decision making; management of teams/large groups; strong organizational, and communication skills.

Remuneration:
€120,000 per annum (before taxes)
