REEEP assists local help desks for energy efficiency in all MEDA countries

The MED-ENEC project follows a sustainable business approach, which includes demonstration projects and capacity building in an integrated effort. Therefore, the project put its focus on strengthening business services and supporting markets, improving institutional capacities and establishing favourable institutional structures, as well as fiscal and economic instruments.
Pilot projects are carried out mainly for demonstration and training purposes. Established dissemination structures ensures knowledge transfer. The capacity building approach combines national and regional workshops and consulting events. Best practices are presented; experiences and information exchanged and implementation plans for the pilot projects established.
REEEP was invited to present the reegle information gateway at the regional capacity building workshop in Marrakech on October 22-23, 2007. The aim of the two-day workshop was to establish local helpdesks for energy efficiency in all MEDA countries. Because of the low budgets experienced by local helpdesks, MEDA countries were looking for twinning options with existing data-providers for high quality energy efficiency information.
reegle was selected as a possible data provider to serve the needs of professionals who visit the helpdesks. There was an agreement that reegle will provide a search tool for the local helpdesks and that the local experts will deliver high quality local sources in English and French, which will be added to reegle sources.
