Enhancing Public-Private Partnerships for RE and EE Development in Russia

The REEEP initiated roundtable held in the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation was aimed at discussing opportunities for enhancing public-private partnerships in Russia. The Public Chamber was established in 2005 to ensure public involvement in the decision-making process of important national issues.

The REEEP initiated roundtable held in the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation was aimed at discussing opportunities for enhancing public-private partnerships in Russia. The Public Chamber was established in 2005 to ensure public involvement in the decision-making process of important national issues.

 

The event provided a platform for dialogue among active stakeholders from 3 crucial sectors – business, government and NGOs. Business was represented by the International Financial Corporation, Russian Association of Businessmen and Entrepreneurs, Wind Industry Association, Federal Hydro-generating Company JS “Hydroogk” etc. Representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Industry and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade spoke on behalf of the government of the Russian Federation.

 

The goal of the event was to explore opportunities and potential of the public-private partnership approach for development of RE and EE in Russia. More than 40 participants, and also media, came to the event. The participants agreed on the importance of public-private partnership mechanisms and its potential to achieve tangible outputs towards development of sustainable energy and achieving energy security in Russia.  Recommendations as a result of event will be submitted to the president of the Russian Federation.
