Growing SMEs, It’s time to invest! is a one-day “SME Market Place” where 75 entrepreneurs from developing countries seeking investment will present their businesses to investors. Investors will present their offerings to entrepreneurs, much as in what many venture capitalists refer to as a “deal show”.
The event will feature the final of the Access to Clean Energy Challenge, a business plan competition for entrepreneurs that deliver access to clean energy in developing countries, with a focus on East Africa.
The SME Market Place will give entrepreneurs and service providers meeting the following criteria the opportunity to present themselves to investors:
- The company has a clear social or environmental impact
- The company has a growth potential of +30% per year
- The financing need is within the range of $100,000 - $2,000,000
- The financial contribution of the entrepreneur covers at least 10% of the financial need
- The company is located and registered in a developing country
