The Amsterdam event will focus on European member state's move to deregulate electricity markets and the actions taken to implement the new energy end-use efficiency directive by the May 2008 target. Metering, billing and CRM will all be impacted upon by these initiatives. The deployment of smart metering, mandated in the Energy Services Directive, will enable smart grids and smart homes, which will revolutionise the management of energy from its point of generation to the point of consumption.
