REIL is an international network that brings together the “agents of change” who inform and create interventions and policy and law and financial frameworks on the international, national, and subnational level.
The network creates a space for business leaders, policy-makers, scholars, lawyers, and science and technology experts to create synergies between industry, government, NGOs, IGOs and experts to identify and evaluate the challenges in moving to a low carbon society and the strategies to address them. In the words of James Cameron, the Chairman of Climate Change Capital, REIL is “network of people who have the care and capacity to connect ideas and action.”
Over the next few years, REIL will be focusing on topics in the following key areas:
- Resource competition vs. collaboration: food water energy land-use nexus
- Sustainable infrastructure and local power: nexus of IT and energy generation and delivery
- Financial architecture for scaling up energy efficiency and renewable energy
REIL is funded by REEEP. The network works closely with a variety of academic institutions and businesses including the Yale Center for Business and the Environment, Baker & McKenzie’s Global Environmental Markets & Climate Change Practice, and Climate Change Capital.
The work of REIL in the past decade is compiled in films and in publications with the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies
