The REEEP South Asia Regional Secretariat was established in 2005 and is hosted and operated by the AEI (Asian Energy Institute). The South Asia regional secretariat is based out of The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI) office in New Delhi.
AEI is a network of 18 Asian institutes and 13 Associate member institutes from across the world. The organisation conducts policy research on energy, resources, climate change and sustainable development issues with an Asian regional perspective. It also aims to facilitate the sharing of information and dissemination of knowledge. The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) has provided its institutional strength to host and support AEI activities.
The South Asia Regional Secretariat covers REEEP activities in the following countries: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The secretariat plays an important role in the selection, monitoring and evaluation of REEEP-supported projects in the region. Through its strategic involvement at the central and state level, REEEP has achieved exponential growth in its regional prominence. REEEP is recognised and its achievements in the region are appreciated by state and central government bodies, institutions and private sector organisations alike.
