REEEP-NREL Open Data Workshop

IBM estimates that 90% of the data in the world today has been created in the last two years alone. In the face of this “tsunami” of digital information, more and more agencies are turning to Linked Open Data. This REEEP-NREL workshop will bring together 30 leading providers of clean energy, energy efficiency, and climate data to introduce them to the movement.

REEEP joins Green Growth Knowledge Platform, Climate Technology Network

Brazilian smallholding farmers see the full value of their products

At first glance, creating livelihoods and strengthening food security while preventing deforestation and fostering sustainable land use may seem irreconcilable goals. Yet Brazilian institute Ecoengenho has managed to do both through its Aroeira project, which empowers smallholding farmers in northeastern Brazil to actively engage in the value chain of their products from harvest to retail. Their product of choice? Pink pepper.

Transforming lives in rural Peru: a REEEP diary

In July, REEEP’s Programme Director Eva Oberender made a journey to South America to visit communities that are serviced by newly REEEP-funded projects, each bringing clean energy solutions to people in remote areas of Peru.

Her experience was both physically challenging and exhilarating, but most importantly was clear proof of how REEEP-funded work goes the last mile and really transforms lives with clean energy. VEF reception: Dr. Kandeh Yumkella praises REEEP’s strong network

Dr. Kandeh Yumkella, Director-General of UNIDO gave opening comments at the REEEP-hosted reception at the Vienna Energy Forum on 29 May 2013; a testament to the close links between the two organisations.  In front of several hundred assembled guests in the Kleiner Redoutensaal of the Hofburg Palace, Yumkella warmly praised REEEP’s strong network of project implementers and the organisation’s strong partnership approach in service of providing sustainable energy for all.
