The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership has teamed up with the governments of Norway and the United Kingdom to provide CanmetENERGY, the Canadian clean energy research and technology lab, with a fifth funding round for the RETScreen Clean Energy Project Analysis Software. The grant will go toward a new version of the software, RETScreen Expert, which will improve and expand inputs and analysis, allowing users to identify, assess, optimize and track clean energy investments over the complete project life cycle.

Yet Brazilian institute Ecoengenho has managed to do both through its Aroeira project, which empowers smallholding farmers in northeastern Brazil to actively engage in the value chain of their products from harvest to retail. Their product of choice? Pink pepper.
