Need Assessment Study of the South Asia Region

The South Asian region is evolving and growing at an exponential rate in terms of development and economic growth. Hence, it is placed critically in terms of matching the needs of the rising population as well as stabilizing and developing its economy. Agriculture, transport, and building sectors are the three sectors in the South Asian region which play a significant role in the economic development of the region. At the same time, these three sectors are also highly energy intensive. Therefore, it becomes critical to identify the energy requirements and suffice them through various clean energy alternatives, supported by innovative business models. 

UNIDO and REEEP join hands to co-host the next generation of PFAN to accelerate private financing for clean energy businesses in the developing world

VIENNA, 26 November, 2015. The governing board of the Private Finance Advisory Network (PFAN), a multilateral public-private partnership that connects clean energy businesses with private financing, announced today that it has entered negotiations with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) for the two organizations to jointly host the next generation of PFAN in Vienna.

REEEP Kenya Ventures Announced as Powering Agriculture Innovators

REEEP is proud to announce that two ventures from its Powering Agrifood Value Chains 2015 Portfolio have been announced as 2015 Innovators of the Powering Agriculture Energy Grand Challenge for Development (PAEGC). Sunculture and Futurepump, providers of solar-powered irrigation systems to medium and smallholder farmers, respectively, are "helping to accelerate the development and deployment of clean energy solutions that will enhance agricultural yields/productivity, decrease post-harvest loss, improve farmer and agribusiness income generating opportunities and revenues, and/or increase energy efficiency and associated savings within the operations of farms and agribusinesses all while stimulating low carbon economic growth within the agriculture sector of developing countries."

Development leaders talk evaluation at Wilton Park

As part of the International Year of Evaluation 2015, the Centre for Development Impact (a joint initiative of the Institute of Development Studies, Itad Ltd and the University of East Anglia) hosted a meeting at Wilton Park  to discuss the state of impact evaluation, and build new evaluation coalitions for market-oriented development initiatives.
