LEDS in Action: COP20 Side Event

The LEDS in Action side event will highlight low emission development leadership in Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean and activities of the LEDS Global Partnership (LEDS GP) regional platforms and working groups on finance, benefits assessment, sub-national programs, energy, AFOLU (agriculture, forestry and land use), and transport that are enabling peer learning and technical cooperation across countries and international institutions.

LEDS GP Annual Workshop: Advancing Leadership And Collaboration To Catalyze Action

The LEDS Global Partnership is convening its third annual global workshop to bring together leading officials and practitioners from countries and international institutions to share lessons and strengthen cooperation on climate-resilient low emission development around the world. The 2014 LEDS GP Workshop will be highly interactive and will facilitate peer learning and knowledge exchange in these focus areas: LEDS leadership, impact, implementation, and strengthening communities of practice.

South Africa extends city EE programme

In the Budget Speech in late February, the South Africa government confirmed that it will continue and widen a Municipal EEDSM (energy efficiency demand side management) fund for another three-year cycle. The EEDSM programme is a grant fund for municipalities to implement energy efficient retrofits in city infrastructure.

Coimbatore hosts launch workshop for ICLEI Local Renewables project

The Indian city of Coimbatore was the host of a two-day workshop on 12-13 December, launching a REEEP-funded ICLEI project on Local Renewables. The project is taking Coimbatore as both an example and a resource in energy efficiency and renewable energy for two other emerging market cities: Ekurhuleni in South Africa and the Yogyakarta municipality in Indonesia.
