Lessons for Africa from India's Electrification Experience?

The fundamental lesson from the Indian experience for any country looking to rapidly accelerate expansion of electricity access is that market-based decentralized renewable energy solutions represent the fastest and most cost-effective ways to bring energy to underserved rural and peri-urban populations; but to leverage the innovation, expertise and investment of the private sector, governments must work to include such approaches in development and electrification master planning, and to develop sustainable mechanisms for compensating private operators and providers of energy services for providing a public good to society.

ECREEE, CTCN and PFAN have launched a call for proposals for women-led sustainable energy enterprises in West-Africa, as part of the CTCN/ECOWAS Project on Mainstreaming Gender for a Climate-Resilient Energy System in West Africa. Women-led businesses employing clean energy solutions to facilitate women's economic empowerment in the ECOWAS countries and seeking investments of up to USD 50 million are invited to apply here by the 27th of November, 2017.

CTI PFAN Call for Proposals: Project Development and Financing Initiative in India

The Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN) is now accepting proposals from India for participation in the Project Development and Financing Initiative. This PFAN India initiative will present promising clean energy projects from India to interested investors. The initiative actively seeks renewable energy and energy efficiency projects that are financially viable, socially responsible and environmentally beneficial.
