Germany’s Top Students Build Sustainability Scenarios for Nepal

Olivia Coldrey, REEEP’s Director, Sustainable Finance, recently spent an afternoon with a group of exceptional scholarship students from Germany exploring sustainable development scenarios for Nepal to 2050. This was a great opportunity for REEEP to share its expertise and at the same time get a fresh view on the issues we work on from the next generation of leaders.

Smart cities for sustainable development

For the first time this year two important dates in the urban calendar happened in October. The first Monday of October of every year since 1986 is a World Habitat Day. This year, October ends with World City Day, celebrated this year for the first time and built around the theme: Better City, Better Life. Both days are organized under the auspices of UN-Habitat. We thought this would be an excellent opportunity to share a few words about our efforts to promote and support sustainable cities, also highlighted our 2013/2014 Annual Report.

Environment and economic growth: inevitable conflict?

A new report released by REEEP – the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership – shows how businesses can take the lead in creating sustainable solutions within the water-energy-food nexus. But governments must do more to help small businesses benefit from the value added of integrated thinking about water, energy, and food.

UNIDO and REEEP map out deeper cooperation on sustainable development

LI Yong, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Martin Hiller, Director General of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) met this week in Vienna to discuss intensifying the cooperation between the two organizations; the aim is to jointly promote sustainable pathways for developing countries to reduce poverty and develop their industrial base.

DSDS 2013: The Global Challenge of Resource Efficient Growth and Development

Debates at the 2013 edition of TERI’s Delhi Sustainable Development Summit (DSDS) will help further the resolutions of the Rio+20 Conference delineated in the document entitled – ‘The Future We Want' which desires inclusive and equitable economic growth, greater opportunities and reduction of inequalities across the globe. REEEP's Director General Martin Hiller will be speaking at the event.
