In August 2014 the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation released an evaluation of REEEP and REEEP activities. The evaluation was carried out on behalf of the governments of Norway and Switzerland, two of REEEP's main donors.

The Swiss Confederation is a funder of REEEP's 9th funding cycle of projects, through the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, which is Switzerland's competence centre for all core issues relating to economic policy, trade and labour.

:Through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Norwegian government supports the Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN), a programme hosted by UNIDO and REEEP.
The Norwegian Government has previously provided funding through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Environment and International Development for REEEP projects in its 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th funding cycles. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also sponsored the Energy+ International Energy and Climate Initiative.
