Esméralda Sindou is an engineer and an economist working as Senior Project Manager for the West African component of the Beyond the Grid Fund for Africa (BGFA) at REEEP. She is responsible for the implementation of the programme in Liberia and Burkina Faso, including the design of a results-based financing scheme in each country, coordination with in-country teams and stakeholders and monitoring and reporting.
Before joining REEEP, Esméralda worked at the French Development Agency in India, where she participated in monitoring two lines of credit for renewable energy and energy efficiency. Later, she provided consultancy services for projects in sub-Saharan Africa relating to power sector reform, the promotion of the links between energy and the broader economy, and the improvement of framework conditions for renewable energy investments, including feed-in-tariffs and PPPs for mini-grids. She also has extensive experience with statistical methods, having contributed to several surveys (e.g. demand forecast) and impact evaluations.
Esméralda holds a Masters in Engineering from Ponts ParisTech (France) and a MSc. in Economics for Development from the University of Oxford (UK).
